The song in which DÍSA sounds almost upbeat. It must be the Valentine’s effect. Of course, it’s still her recognisable sound; you can almost hear her homeland’s glaciers flowing through each of her tracks, it’s just it’s a nice change to have the positive lyrics and a more upbeat tempo, especially in the song’s final third. We first fell in love with DÍSA two years ago when she released her debut single, Sun, and we’d be as bold as to say that this track makes us remember why we fell in love with her in the first place. It’s going to be on her debut (!) EP Sculpture, out March 23.
Copenhagen-based Icelander DISA has been drip-feeding us tracks for well over a year at a glacial pace, but they’ve always been worth the wait. Structure is another unsettling, minimal song that is vaguely reminiscent of the likes of Banks and FKA Twigs and is the lead single from a forthcoming EP. The lyrics seem like a love song but we’re not talking Hollywood romance here; this is a cold, Nordic, faintly threatening love, and is all the better for it. Mobile users listen here.
